ا His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies - the integrated energy company leading the energy transition in the Kingdom of Bahrain – met with Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, and Mark Thomas, Group CEO of Bapco Energies. The meeting laid the foundations for cooperation between Bapco Energies and TotalEnergies, under which TotalEnergies will support Bapco Energies in optimizing its Sitra refinery, which is currently being upgraded, and in trading of its petroleum products. TotalEnergies will bring its global oil and feedstock supply capacity, as well as its refining and trading expertise. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty the King’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of Bapco Energies, today chaired the Company’s Board of Directors meeting for the last quarter of the year. HH Shaikh Nasser commended the speech delivered by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa before the COP28 Summit announcing the launch of Bahrain's National Action Plan, "Blueprint Bahrain", which is aimed at achieving carbon neutrality. His Highness emphasised that His Majesty's announcement marks a significant milestone in Bahrain's energy sector transformation and sustainability journey. HH Shaikh Nasser congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain's celebration of its National Days, in commemoration of the establishment of the modern Bahraini State as an Arab, Muslim state founded by Ahmed Al Fateh in 1783, and the anniversary of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s Accession to the Throne. His Highness commended the group's achievements in the current year, which included launching the Sustainability-Linked Finance Framework ("Framework"), making it the world’s first national energy group to implement this practice. This is in addition to partnering with regional institutions to develop a national portfolio of energy companies, and enhancing investment opportunities in the sector. This led to its success in refinancing Murabaha facilities worth $2.2 billion, increasing it to $2.5 billion, and issuing Sukuk worth US$750 million for 10 years. His Highness welcomed Bapco Energies Group's transformation into world-class governance processes and the completion of the first environmental and social impact assessment for Bahrain; as well as comducting the feasibility study for a carbon capture and storage project to achieve 10% of the target of reducing carbon emissions by 2035. The meeting reviewed the group's financial performance for Q4 2023, focusing on major projects aligned with Bahrain's national energy strategy. They also discussed a strategic investment package to support the group's transformation project in line with global sector changes. Mark Thomas, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Bapco Energies, presented the company's environmental and social governance report, which outlined procedures for achieving health and safety principles. It also covered forming an environment, health, and safety working committee to create training programs for 2024 projects and standardise data collection for greater transparency, integrity, and accountability. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of HM the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Board of Trustees Chairman of the Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC), has affirmed that the Science and Technology City project is among the strategic ambitions of the industrial sector, as it will provide an inspiring and stimulating environment for Bahraini youth seeking to build the nation with their innovations and creative ideas. The City will be inspired by the energies and potential of Bahraini youth, with a promising vision for the future of Bahraini industry and comprehensive development, in the prosperous era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and support of Team Bahrain, led by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, he said. HH Shaikh Nasser was speaking while chairing the third meeting of NVTC’s Board of Trustees in 2023, in the presence of Deputy Chairman, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed, Chief Executive Dr. Abdulla bin Nasser Al Noaimi and members. HHH Shaikh Nasser was briefed, through a presentation, on the NVTC's most prominent achievements in developing school education and training national cadres, as well as empowering youth in the fields of industry and energy and institutional development of the centre. The presentation also highlighted the progress of the implementation of the NVTC’s strategic plan to become a Science and Technology City by 2025. It also shed light on the awards earned by NVTC at the local and international levels, in addition to its present and future initiatives aimed at making it a beacon of knowledge for industry and technology in the region and a leading model for graduating outstanding Bahraini leaders in industry and innovation. NVTC’s board commended the efforts of the teaching and administrative staff marking the beginning of the new academic year, 2023-2024, wishing students every success. The panel reviewed the achievements of the academic department regarding student development strategy, aiming to develop educational curricula that cope with the needs of the labour market, including the launch of the cybersecurity specialisation in the NVTC, in cooperation with a US-based institute. The board members opened the new cybersecurity department, which marks the beginning of work to establish a Cybersecurity Academy, as one of the branches of the Science and Technology City. The academy will attract Bahraini students from grade 10 to 12, on the one hand, and secondary school graduates wishing to obtain a diploma in information technology and cybersecurity, in addition to those who had been trained on various technological and strategic sciences, on the other. It will also oversee future trends in adopting smart technologies that strengthen the cybersecurity system in the kingdom.more

The GCC meeting was chaired by Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, who welcomed HH Shaikh Nasser upon his arrival at the King Abdullah International Conference Centre.more
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Oil and Gas Holding Company (nogaholding), received John J. Christmann IV, the President and Chief Executive Officer of APA Corporation, the parent company of Apache Corporation. The meeting discussed potential business opportunities. The meeting was attended by Dr. Mohamad bin Mubarak Bin Daina, the Minister of Oil and Environment and Special Envoy for Climate Affairs and members of APA Corporation’s Executive Team. HH Shaikh Nasser gave an overview of the history of oil and gas developments in the Kingdom. The two parties discussed potential opportunities for cooperation between nogaholding and APA Corporation to optimise Bahrain’s existing oil and gas operations as well as future exploration and development possibilities. His Highness praised the positive approach both companies demonstrated in discussions and expressed the Kingdom’s willingness to work closely with the APA Corporation to further expand recoverable natural resources. National Security Advisor, Supreme Defence Council Secretary-General, Royal Guard Commander and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Nasser Vocational Training Centre (NVTC), Lieutenant-General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has directed to establish a Cybersecurity Sciences Academy at NVTC, under the chairmanship of Dr. Abdulla bin Nasser Al-Nuaimi. The academy which will become one of the basic pillars of the security and technical education in Bahrain, which will enhance the kingdom's status in the field of security technology and data protection, regionally and globally. It reflects Bahrain's strategic ambition of developing cybersecurity practices in the era of the fourth Industrial Revolution that is witnessing an unprecedented digital transformation across various sectors, which requires facing its challenges by promoting a culture of cybersecurity among youngsters, as they are a key factor in achieving security and safety when using modern technologies, and providing them with the skills, as well as scientific and professional expertise necessary to address digital security risks, and be an effective when working in this field, be it at the level of individuals or institutions. The academy will attract Bahraini students from grade 10 to 12, on the one hand, and secondary school graduates who wish to obtain a diploma in information technology and cybersecurity, in addition to those who had been trained on the principles and sciences of technology and strategy, on the other. It will oversee future trends in adopting smart technologies that strengthen the cybersecurity system in the kingdom, which will make it an incubator of skilled Bahraini competencies who provide effective and innovative solutions with a positive momentum in the business sector, including data protection, internet security, network protection, cloud security, artificial intelligence, and other skills and technologies that the academy graduates will contribute to shaping the cyber future horizons of the Kingdom. In this regard, Dr. Abdullah bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, CEO of NVTC, met Shaikh Salman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, CEO of the National Center for Cybersecurity, and his accompanying delegation. They discussed ways to cooperate in order to launch the academy in the next academic year 2023-2024, in addition to the academic programmes and educational curricula to developed. The aim is to ensure that the academy's output is competitive, meets the needs of the labour market and vital sectors, and is line with the National Cybersecurity Strategy. Present were UNGA President's Office Director Laszlo Zuki, Head of Political Affairs Yanina Has Mohsen, and Fahad Al-Ajmi, Advisor to the UNGA President on Political Affairs and Security and Peace Issues. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed the UNGA President and the accompanying delegation, stressing the UNGA's pivotal role in tackling Arab, regional and global issues. HH Shaikh Nasser stressed the importance of harnessing all efforts to achieve peace, tackle global issues and challenges facing countries worldwide. On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, today attended a celebration held in honour of the Representative of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The event was held in celebration of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa's success in achieving first place in the 160-kilometre race of the FEI Endurance World Championship held in the United Arab Emirates, and HH's ranking first in the world in the international classification of endurance sports, which was recently issued. The FEI Endurance World Championship featured 126 contenders representing 36 countries in Boudheib International Endurance Village, of which, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa obtained first place. The ceremony began with a rendition of Bahrain’s national anthem, followed by a reading of verses from the Holy Quran. The First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of the Public Authority for Sports, President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, gave an address in which he highlighted HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister’s commitment to the Kingdom’s sports and youth sector. The sector has had a positive impact on the Kingdom’s wider development goals, led by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad further highlighted HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad’s victory at the FEI Endurance World Championship, which is a reflection of the Kingdom’s continued accomplishments in sports. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander and the Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, announced today that the first fully Bahraini satellite will be named "Al Munther". His Highness also unveiled the official logo of this Bahraini space mission, which comes to implement the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalfia, Crown Prince, and Prime Minister. Thirty five percent of the satellite project has been completed, HH Shaikh Nasser said. This project is a new milestone for the Kingdom of Bahrain in the space sector, and towards the goal of utilising space technology to serve sustainable development efforts in the kingdom, HH Shaikh Nasser added. Al Munther's design and construction is currently underway in Bahraini by a fully Bahraini team, HH said. HH Shaikh Nasser said Al Munther project follows the success of the launch of the first satellite Light 1, and aims at optimizing national capacity in designing, constructing, testing and operating satellites. HH added that the project will create a boost to scientific research in the areas of space, artificial intelligence, and cyber security in Bahrain. Al Munther will provide space data on the Kingdom of Bahrain that will be analysed using a line-up of Bahraini innovations that will part of the satellite's load. The mission of the satellite will include capturing images of the Kingdom of Bahrain and its regional waters and collecting data that will feed into several sectors. Bahraini innovations will be tested in outer space as part of this project, to further improve them before using them in upcoming projects. HH Shaikh Nasser commended the continuous efforts of the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) team in projects, engagement, and scientific research, which improves the positioning of the Kingdom of Bahrain in the global space sector. HH also expressed appreciation for NSSA's work in building national capacity, fostering creativity and innovation and its endeavors to fulfill the requirements of building the future. HH Shaikh Nasser also valued the contributions of the Bahrain Space Team, whose work has demonstrated the true mettle of Bahraini youth and their determination to serve the kingdom through achieving further scientific and technological advancement.more
