His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, chaired a meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Chairman of the General Sports Authority and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and Council members. The Council began by reviewing the latest developments in the national ‘Lamea’ project, with Shaikha Dhuwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of Lamea Association, outlining the project’s key achievements since its launch in 2021, during which it successfully established itself as a leading national platform for discovering and nurturing young talent. The rapid growth in participation in the programme and the successes achieved by participants at the local and international levels was also highlighted. In this context, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa congratulated the launch of the sixth edition of the national project "Lamea" and directed the Authority to increase its local and international presence to strengthen its role in preparing outstanding youth leaders. The Council discussed the results of the Hope Index 2025 and the pillars of youth work, reviewing the key indicators related to young people’s sense of security, hope and confidence in light of current changes. His Highness directed the Ministry of Youth Affairs to organise events and initiatives in the coming period, that improve the affected indicators, in order to support the psychological and social stability of young people. In the quality of life aspect, Dr. Jalila bint Al-Sayed Jawad Hassan, Minister of Health, reviewed the National Strategy for Promoting Health and Quality of Life in the Kingdom of Bahrain, which aims to establish the concept of quality of life as one of the fundamental pillars of national policy by promoting psychological well-being, social cohesion and developing health-supportive environments, alongside the implementation of programmes and initiatives that adopt healthy and sustainable lifestyles. The Council was also briefed on the latest developments regarding the ‘Furas’ programme, presented by Maha Abdul Hameed Mufiz, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund "Tamkeen", during which the programme’s key outcomes since its launch in 2022 were reviewed. The challenges associated with converting training opportunities into sustainable jobs were also discussed. Which will be focused on in the updated version of the program, to enhance its effectiveness and encourage the employment of young Bahrainis. With regard to the Academic Excellence Authority, Abdulrahman Mohammed Al Jalal, Chairman of the Board of Directors, gave a presentation on the Authority’s achievements, noting that its members comprise leading national figures, including graduates from the world’s top universities. The presentation covered the Authority’s most notable events and programmes, as well as key initiatives, including the development of the ‘Masari’ programme, the ‘Derasat’ scholarship initiative, and the collaboration project with the University of Cambridge, alongside the development of the recruitment platform and the launch of the new version of the website, which strengthens the connection between national talent and quality opportunities. The Council commended the efforts made by the Authority, directing it to expand the scope of its work to reach students in various countries hosting universities ranked among the world’s top 100, with the aim of strengthening academic engagement and connecting national talent with quality opportunities. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Council affirmed the importance of continuing to work according to an integrated approach that strengthens the role of young people as key partners in development and supports the achievement of national objectives in various fields. This came during His Highness’s patronage of the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the national project “Lamea”, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, and Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister for Youth Affairs; representatives of supporting organisations; and a select group of young people from the “Lamea” programme. His Highness praised the high level demonstrated by the participants, commending their ability to navigate intricate stages and specific challenges designed to test intellect before skill, and commitment before performance, affirming that their achievements reflect a commendable model of Bahraini youth capable of competing and making an impact. His Highness noted that the programme serves as a school of life that redefines the strength of Bahrain’s youth, and a model for preparing a generation capable of critical thinking, decision-making and taking responsibility, within the framework of effective strategic partnerships that promote collective national action and achieve a sustainable impact. The ceremony began with a speech by Shaikha Dhuwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of Lamea Association, in which she affirmed that since its launch in 2021, “Lamea” has evolved from an idea into an integrated system for leadership development, noting the rapid growth in the number of applicants, and the expansion of local and international partnerships, which strengthens the programme’s regional and global standing. In a speech by the participants, Abdulrahman Duaij said that the “Lamea” experience was not limited to skills development, but constituted a genuine shift in mindset, contributing to the development of a mindset capable of facing challenges with confidence and competence. At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa honoured the strategic partners, Bapco Energies and Kuwait Finance House, alongside the knowledge partner, the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance. The graduates of the fifth cohort were also honoured, along with the winners, Taqi Abdulla from Bapco Energies and Ahmed Mubarak from the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, after they successfully completed a series of specific challenges. The national ‘Lamea’ project is an advanced model for developing young leaders. It is not limited to the transfer of knowledge, but focuses on character building, testing readiness, and enhancing decision-making ability in real-world environments, based on the clear philosophy that true leaders are not made in classrooms, but in real-life situations. The fifth edition of “Lamea” saw exceptional demand, with over 1,000 applicants, and an acceptance rate of just under 2%, reflecting the high level of competition.more

His Highness explained that His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's support of the youth, reflects a firm belief in their pivotal role and confidence in their ability to shape a brighter future for the Kingdom of Bahrain. His Highness also noted that the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, continues to open up broader horizons for young people and enhances their role as active partners in the development process, within a supportive environment that nurtures their ambitions and empowers them. In his speech, His Highness conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King to the youth of Bahrain, along with His Majesty’s appreciation for their role in advancing, prospering and protecting their country. His Highness said: “In this situation, we do not view the Kingdom’s youth merely as young people; rather, we see you as a force and a shield, and the hope of an entire nation. In times of peace, everyone speaks of ambition, but in times of challenge, it becomes clear who carries the nation through their actions. We are all living through a moment of choice and trial, in which we test the true character of the Bahraini people.” His Highness added: “In these circumstances, we must uphold the name of Bahrain as it should be upheld, and in the current times, we are judged by our actions towards Bahrain. Today is your day, and strength lies in steadfastness and unity.” His Highness continued: “We are not the first generation to face challenges; Bahrain has faced great challenges, and everyone who coveted Bahrain has failed. But this generation is being tested at this very moment. We do not need a louder voice, but a stronger stance; we do not need more words, but heroes who, when they speak, are believed.” His Highness added: “Bahrain is not measured by the size of its territory; it has taught the world a lesson that strength does not lie in size, but in steadfastness, unity and resolve. Be the kind of young people whose resolve grows stronger when times get tough, and whose steadfastness increases when danger looms. Be the smiling youth. You represent the Kingdom in every forum, and its future lies in your hands.” His Highness also said: “Bahrain is in good hands, for in times of difficulty it relies on young people who stand firm in their commitment to protecting the Kingdom. Seeing you lifts my spirits; we take pride in the stances, solidarity, generosity and volunteering of our youth. The history of young people is written in gold, and achievement is their hallmark.” His Highness highlighted the inspiring initiatives undertaken by young people, which reflect cooperation and generosity, emphasising that these efforts help foster hope and reinforce collective action, which supports the nation’s progress and strengthens its cohesion. His Highness called on young people to continue to invest in their abilities, and to believe in their role in shaping the future, emphasising that every step they take is a building block for a brighter tomorrow. His Highness also affirmed the importance of strengthening channels of communication among young people and creating broader spaces for interaction and the exchange of experiences, which increases opportunities for them to make an impact and be creative. His Highness concluded by emphasising his confidence in the youth of Bahrain, noting that they will always remain a source of national pride and key partners in shaping the nation’s future, with a positive spirit, renewed ambition and unwavering faith. Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander conveyed the condolences of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces to the family of the Bahraini woman who passed away as a result of Iran's hostile aggression, as His Highness offered his condolences to the family of the deceased.
