His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, affirmed that the visit of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa to the 15th edition of Youth City 2030, is an exceptional national moment that affirms that Bahraini youth enjoy the leadership’s trust, and that their energies, ideas and capabilities are a fundamental pillar of the Kingdom’s present and future. Nasser bin Hamad visits ‘Gadeha Junior’ camp and reviews the training programmes and field exercises
Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, visited the ‘Gadeha Junior’ training camp for young people held at Exhibition World Bahrain, where His Highness observed the training programmes and field exercises offered by the camp. His Highness toured a number of the camp’s training grounds and observed some of the challenges faced by the young participants, noting the physical effort, concentration, quick reflexes and decision-making skills required. His Highness affirmed that “Gadeha Junior” provides a practical experience that gives young people the space to discover their abilities and test their potential through various situations and challenges. His Highness noted that character building begins by giving young people the confidence and opportunity to experiment, face challenges and learn. His Highness explained that one of the camp’s objectives is for children to learn from a young age that challenges are not to be feared but to be faced, and that self-confidence is built through trying, experimenting and overcoming difficulties. His Highness emphasised that “Gadeha Junior” is not about seeing who finishes first, but rather aims for every participant to discover potential within themselves, and to realise that stumbling in one attempt is not the end of the road, but rather a motivation to return stronger. This came during a visit by His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to the 15th edition of Youth City 2030, organised in collaboration with the Labour Fund "Tamkeen" and the Summer Sports City, in the presence of a number of officials. His Highness praised the progress made by the 15th edition of Youth City 2030 in attracting young people and engaging them in a comprehensive experience that combines learning, application and practice, noting the city’s high-quality programmes and initiatives across various fields. His Highness praised the diversity of partnerships that helped enrich the City’s experience and training content, emphasising that the integration of programmes, expertise and national and international partnerships had a positive impact on the City’s outcomes and its influence on young people. His Highness commended the specialised sporting programmes and activities offered by the Summer Sports City, which combine training, practice, competition, and the discovery and development of talent, and providing a stimulating environment to develop the youth's physical and technical abilities. During the visit, His Highness was briefed on the city’s centres and pathways in leadership and entrepreneurship, media and entertainment, arts and culture, science and technology, and sport, as well as the training opportunities they offer that combine knowledge with practical application, alongside helping young people develop their skills. His Highness also toured the Summer Sports City, one of the specialised centres hosted by Youth City 2030, and was briefed on the integrated system of sports programmes and activities it offers. During the tour, His Highness received a commemorative gift from Bahrain Islamic Bank in recognition of his support for the second edition of the ‘We Write in Arabic’ initiative, and to mark the launch of the initiative’s third edition. His Highness also attended an artistic performance by young people from Youth City 2030, during which the participants showcased their skills and artistic creativity. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, chaired the Council's meeting for the year 2026, in the presence of the council's members. The meeting reviewed a number of strategic initiatives and projects on the agenda and adopted a number of recommendations and decisions aimed at continuing to develop the youth and sports sector, improving quality of life, and enhancing the Kingdom of Bahrain’s standing in the fields of youth empowerment and sport. His Highness opened the meeting by congratulating Bahraini youth on International Youth Day, affirming that this occasion is a source of pride in the outstanding achievements of Bahraini youth across various fields, thanks to the support of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister. His Highness affirmed that the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports continues to work in accordance with a national vision centred on investing in people, promoting initiatives based on scientific studies and indicators, and developing programmes that meet the aspirations of Bahraini youth, in line with the royal vision achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. His Highness stressed the importance of coordination among various government bodies to achieve the best results and maximise the social impact of national initiatives. The Council was briefed on the initiative to issue a special visa for professional athletes, which aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework governing the entry and residence of professional athletes and their family members, which will contribute to developing the professional sports system, safeguard athletes’ rights, streamline administrative procedures, support national clubs and enhance the competitiveness of the sports sector in the Kingdom. The Council directed to finalise the necessary procedures to approve the initiative, and tasked the General Sports Authority with coordinating with the Ministry of Interior and relevant authorities in this regard, to ensure the provision of an advanced regulatory environment that supports the development of professional sport. The Council also reviewed the initiative to promote health and quality of life through calorie awareness, emphasising the importance of continuing to implement national programmes that raise health awareness, establish a culture of healthy eating, and encourage the community to adopt healthy lifestyles, to positively impact quality of life and support national efforts aimed at promoting public health and prevention. In this context, the Council directed the Ministry of Health, in coordination with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, to take the necessary measures to examine the implementation of a system for disclosing the calories of food served in restaurants, and to develop an appropriate monitoring system and enforcement mechanisms, supported by the necessary legal and regulatory frameworks to ensure compliance and promote public health. The Council also discussed legislative amendments aimed at enhancing opportunities for young people in the labour market, in accordance with the directives of HH the Chairman of the Council, on finding the best ways to equip young people with the skills and experience necessary to enter the labour market, and to expand the career opportunities available to them. In this context, the Minister of Labour outlined a number of proposals aimed at developing the labour market system, enhancing its resilience, extending the scope of social security protection, and improving mechanisms for accessing unemployment benefits, which supports the stability of workers and jobseekers. The Council emphasised the importance of continuing to develop relevant legislation to keep pace with changes in the labour market, train young people and equip them with practical experience, and enhance their opportunities for participation and sustainable presence in the labour market. As part of the Council’s focus on youth empowerment, it reviewed the fifteenth edition of ‘Youth City 2030’, which presents a renewed vision centred on the skills of the future, innovation, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and national identity, helping prepare young people for the demands of the future and providing an integrated environment that fosters creativity, excellence and creating opportunities. The Council emphasised the importance of continuing to develop the City and maximising its national impact, which reinforces its status as one of the prominent national initiatives in youth empowerment and capacity building. At the conclusion of the meeting, His Highness directed to monitor the implementation of the Council’s decisions and recommendations, and their impact assessed periodically to ensure the achievement of the desired objectives. His Highness emphasised that the coming phase requires continuing to work as a unified team, accelerating the implementation of high-quality initiatives and strengthening partnerships between various stakeholders, to solidify the Kingdom of Bahrain’s position as a leading model for investment in youth and sports and fulfill the aspirations of the leadership for a more prosperous future.more
Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, received Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins, Deputy Chief of Defence Staff for Military Strategy and Operations of the United Kingdom, in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Jaber Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Advisor, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Strategic Security Bureau. At the start of the meeting, Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa welcomed Lieutenant General Sir Charlie Collins, emphasising the depth of the historical and strategic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom, as well as the close and evolving cooperation between the two countries in various fields, particularly in the military and defence sectors, and the importance of the Comprehensive Security Integration and Prosperity Agreement (C-SIPA) as a key pillar for strengthening the strategic partnership between the two friendly nations. During the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the United Kingdom that serve their mutual interests, as well as ways to enhance coordination and consultation on various challenges. His Highness noted that trust in the youth is the foundation to build upon all future achievements, and that nations that give their youth the opportunity to take initiative have a stronger and more sustainable future. In a statement marking International Youth Day celebrated on 12 August, His Highness noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain, under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, chose to make the youth part of the decision-making process years ago, rather than mere recipients of its outcomes, and to be partners in shaping the future, through a national approach based on nurturing talent. His Highness added that this approach receives the support and follow up of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which has strengthened the integration of national efforts to build an environment that gives young people the opportunity to participate, encourages them to take on responsibility, and enables them to contribute to various development paths. His Highness affirmed that genuine investment in the youth is when a young person feels heard, their ideas valued, and their responsibility no less important than the opportunities afforded to them. His Highness explained that the trust young people gain from their countries becomes a driving force that makes them take the initiative. On behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor and Royal Guard Commander, and Colonel His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Commander of the Royal Guard’s Special Operations, were at the forefront to bid farewell to His Highness Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, as he departed the Kingdom following his attendance at the “Bahrain Shield” joint exercise, which was held with the participation of the armed forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) states. Also present were a number of senior officials, officers, non-commissioned officers and personnel of the Royal Guard, as well as a number of officers from the Bahrain Defence Force.more
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of Bapco Energies, chaired the Group’s Board of Directors meeting for the second quarter of 2026. During the meeting, His Highness briefed the Board on highlights of his recent visit to the United States, where he met with US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector as well as the impact of the regional conflict on the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Bapco Energies Group. The Board reviewed Bapco Energies’ financial and operational performance and approved the Group’s audited financial statements for the year ended 2025. The consolidated Bapco Energies Group 2026 adjusted budget was endorsed, supporting the continued delivery of its strategic objectives. Mr. Mark Thomas, Group Chief Executive Officer, presented an update on the Group’s performance, key growth indicators, and progress across major strategic initiatives, including the Bapco Modernization Project and Bapco Upstream projects. The Board reaffirmed Bapco Energies’ role in supporting the Kingdom of Bahrain’s long-term economic development and energy security, underscoring the Group’s commitment to creating lasting value for its stakeholders.more
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, congratulated Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the occasion of Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El-Gharib achieving a historic milestone by qualifying to compete in the World Endurance Championship for the first time in the history of Egyptian equestrianism. His Highness affirmed his commitment to supporting Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El-Gharib by developing a comprehensive programme to train him to compete for a place at the World Endurance Championships, while ensuring the best technical and administrative conditions to achieve this goal. This initiative is part of the sports cooperation agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt, and strengthens mutual cooperation in sports, particularly endurance riding, which develops sporting talent and the exchange of expertise between the two brotherly countries. His Highness noted that this success embodies the approach adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting Arab countries, transferring technical and administrative expertise, and enabling Arab riders to reach the highest international levels to advance Arab endurance riding. His Highness expressed his confidence in the ability of rider Mahmoud Samir to perform admirably at the World Championship, wishing him continued success and the Arab Republic of Egypt further achievements in various international sporting forums. Egypt’s qualification for the World Championships is a source of pride for the Arab world, in line with His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s vision to increase Arab participation in international endurance championships and provide more Arab riders with the opportunity to represent their countries globally, reflecting the development of Arab endurance riding and its growing international standing. The Egyptian rider secured his place after finishing ninth in the 160-km Samorin International Endurance Race, riding the horse “Bataah”, bred by the Royal Bahraini Team’s breeding stables, officially securing his place at the World Championship, in an unprecedented achievement for the endurance sport in the Arab Republic of Egypt.more
