*HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad qualifies for final round of 8th Bahrain Amateur Open Golf Championship*
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, continued his participation in the 8th Bahrain Amateur Open Golf Championship, organised by the Bahrain Golf Association at the Royal Golf Club. His Highness qualified for the final round, scheduled for Saturday, following his participation in the second day’s competitions, which witnessed strong competition among the players. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad affirmed that the championship had witnessed high technical standards and strong competition among participants, reflecting the continued development of golf. His Highness noted that such competitions provide an important opportunity to enhance technical performance, refine players’ skills, and foster a spirit of challenge and competition, thereby contributing to the sport’s continued growth and advancement. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad delivered an impressive performance during the second day’s competitions, securing his qualification for the final round. The final round will take place on Saturday, with strong competition expected among the qualified players as they vie for the leading positions and the titles of the eighth edition. The championship features more than 100 players from the Kingdom of Bahrain and all other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, alongside players from the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Lebanese Republic, and a number of foreign residents in the Kingdom.more

On the occasion, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad praised the high standard of organisation, commending the efforts of the Bahrain Golf Association in organising the championship. His Highness affirmed that the championship provides an important opportunity for players to gain further experience and develop their technical skills through competition with leading participants from various countries. His Highness highlighted the importance of the championship in advancing golf, expanding its base of participants, and strengthening its presence at the local and international levels. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad delivered an impressive performance during his participation in the championship, amid an atmosphere of strong competition among the players. The championship features more than 100 players from the Kingdom of Bahrain and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, alongside players from the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Lebanese Republic, and a number of residents in the Kingdom. The championship features 18-hole play, with qualifying rounds taking place on Thursday and Friday ahead of the final round scheduled for Saturday. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, attended the opening of the 2026/2027 endurance racing season, which featured international and local qualifying races at the Bahrain International Endurance Village, with wide participation from riders. The opening of the season was also attended by His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, and Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Humood Al Khalifa, Capital Governor. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa praised the strong participation of riders from various stables in the opening of the endurance season, affirming that the large turnout signals a season of strong competition among participants and reflects the continued development of endurance sports in Bahrain. His Highness commended the significant efforts of all organising committees in ensuring the successful opening of the season and their commitment to providing all the necessary conditions for participants, wishing everyone success in the upcoming races. The opening of the endurance season featured a 120 km international qualifying race, a 100 km international qualifying race, a 100 km international qualifying race for juniors and young riders, in addition to two local qualifying races covering distances of 80 km and 40 km.more
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team participated in the Qatar International 160 km Endurance Race, which saw a number of riders compete. Present were, His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, and Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and Mohammed bin Ali Al Ghatam, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Qatar. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa met with Shaikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, Board member of the Qatari Businessmen Association and owner of Al Nasser Stables. His Highness also received a commemorative gift from Shaikh Mohammed bin Nawaf Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Endurance Racing Club. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed the Royal Endurance Team’s commitment to participating in the Qatar International Endurance Race as part of its approved programme, and to fulfilling the necessary qualifying requirements for the upcoming World Endurance Championship, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates. His Highness noted that such participations enhance the readiness of the Royal Endurance Team’s riders and horses, and assess their technical levels ahead of upcoming events. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team, participated in the Portugal International Endurance Race, covering a distance of 161.8 km, as part of the Royal Endurance Team’s current programme of events. His Highness finished the race in second place. The race saw the participation of a number of riders from around the world and was held over six stages. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed the importance of international qualifying races in the team’s current programme, as they form part of the preparations required for the upcoming World Endurance Championship, which will be held in the United Arab Emirates. His Highness noted that the team will continue its programme in the coming period and enhance the readiness of the riders and horses in line with the requirements of upcoming competitions. First place went to Belgian rider Louna Schuiten, third place to Emirati rider Salem Mohammed Al Ketbi, and fourth place to Saudi rider Faisal Mohammed Al-Qurashi, while the Royal Team’s rider Abdulrahman Khalid Al Khatri came fifth.more
His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, congratulated Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the occasion of Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El-Gharib achieving a historic milestone by qualifying to compete in the World Endurance Championship for the first time in the history of Egyptian equestrianism. His Highness affirmed his commitment to supporting Egyptian rider Mahmoud Samir El-Gharib by developing a comprehensive programme to train him to compete for a place at the World Endurance Championships, while ensuring the best technical and administrative conditions to achieve this goal. This initiative is part of the sports cooperation agreement between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Arab Republic of Egypt, and strengthens mutual cooperation in sports, particularly endurance riding, which develops sporting talent and the exchange of expertise between the two brotherly countries. His Highness noted that this success embodies the approach adopted by the Kingdom of Bahrain in supporting Arab countries, transferring technical and administrative expertise, and enabling Arab riders to reach the highest international levels to advance Arab endurance riding. His Highness expressed his confidence in the ability of rider Mahmoud Samir to perform admirably at the World Championship, wishing him continued success and the Arab Republic of Egypt further achievements in various international sporting forums. The children of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Captain of the Royal Endurance Team, achieved outstanding results at the Samorin International Endurance Race held in Slovakia. Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa won first place in the 100km international race for the junior and youth category, while His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa won first place in the 120km international race for the junior and youth category. His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa’s horse failed to pass the veterinary examination in the 120km international race for the open category after the third stage. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa also participated in the 160km international race but was unable to finish due to an injury. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa emphasised that participating in the Samorin International Race had been a positive experience and achieved many of the objectives set by the team as part of its preparatory programme. His Highness noted that the riders’ results reflected the volume of work carried out over the past period and represented an important step in their preparations for upcoming events, foremost among which is the World Junior and Senior Endurance Championships to be held next year, alongside continuing to build their experience in international competitions. His Highness observed the examination procedures and the readiness of the participating horses. His Highness will take part in the 160km Samorin International Endurance Race, while Her Highness Shaikha Sheema bint Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the 100km International Race, His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the 120km International Open Race, and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa will take part in the 120km International Junior and Youth Race. His Highness led the Royal Endurance Team’s final training session for the race with the participation of his children. His Highness affirmed that taking part in the Samorin International Race is an important milestone in the preparation programme for the coming stages, noting that European competitions provide jockeys and horses with the opportunity to gain experience and compete at the highest levels, which enhances their technical and physical readiness for upcoming events, foremost among which is the World Endurance Championship, which requires comprehensive preparation. His Highness added that the Royal Endurance Team continues to implement its preparatory plans for young riders according to a carefully designed programme focused on achieving the highest levels of readiness and meeting the qualification requirements for participation in the World Championships for Young Rider and Juniors, scheduled to be held in Samorin in 2027. This will be a suitable opportunity to familiarise themselves with the terrain of the Samorin Village courses, which hosted the World Endurance Championship in 2016. His Highness wished all the competing riders’ success to deliver outstanding performances that reflect the prestigious standing of Bahraini endurance on the international stage. The participation of His Highness’s children in the Samorin International Endurance Race is of particular significance, as it marks their first international appearance in endurance racing abroad, following preparation and training to gain experience and compete globally. The Royal Endurance Team will compete in the Samorin International Endurance Race with a number of riders across various categories and distances, as part of the team’s commitment to meeting qualification requirements, enhancing the readiness of riders and horses, and achieving the best possible results on the international stage.more
His Highness Shaikh Hamad bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa opened the Kingdom of Bahrain’s first public skating rink, a landmark project that adds to the Kingdom’s sports infrastructure and reflects the ongoing commitment to providing modern facilities that meet the aspirations of young people. This project has been implemented upon the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. The project stems from His Highness’s commitment to support high-quality sporting initiatives and provide sports environments for young people, as well as create suitable spaces to discover talent, hone skills and strengthen their role in the Kingdom’s sporting development. The opening ceremony was attended by Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister of Youth Affairs, Dr. Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, Chief Executive Officer of the General Sports Authority and several officials. The rink is the first public facility dedicated to this sport in the Kingdom, providing a safe and well-equipped environment for skaters, particularly given the growing popularity of skating worldwide following its inclusion in the Olympic Games, which underscores the importance of providing specialised facilities that support the sport’s growth and help attract more people in Bahrain. The rink also serves as a cultural space that combines sport, creativity and community engagement, and helps to enhance quality of life by providing a variety of sporting and leisure options for young people, which supports healthy lifestyles and encourages community participation in sports activities. This project was implemented with the support and cooperation of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, the General Sports Authority, Infracorp and Premier Q, as part of efforts to develop modern sports and provide a stimulating environment for young people to pursue their hobbies and develop their skills. The opening of the rink is an important step in developing the sports sector in Bahrain and supporting sporting talent and increasing opportunities for young people, which cements the Kingdom’s position as an environment that supports sporting innovation and investment in young talent.more

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, participated in the 29th Lalla Meryem Cup, held at the Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in the Kingdom of Morocco. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa met with His Royal Highness Prince Moulay Rachid, President of the Royal Moroccan Golf Federation and held cordial talks on the Lalla Meryem Cup which coincided with the 50th Hassan II Golf Trophy. His Highness led a team comprising Hamad Al Marrisi, Moulay Abdellah Benzidane and Italian professional Anna Zanusso. The team finished third in the tournament’s gross-8 in the PRO-AM category. His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa affirmed that the Lalla Meryem Cup succeeded in establishing itself as one of the premier tournaments in golf, praising the high standard witnessed during the competition and the distinguished international attendance. His Highness expressed his appreciation for the considerable efforts made by the organising committee and their commitment to ensuring the tournament was organised according to the highest standards.
