Under the patronage of HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Bahrain Cycling Academy (BCA) team was inaugurated today. Including seven Bahraini cyclists, the team will be officially launched on January 31. On the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser valued highly the efforts exerted by the Bahrain Cycling Association to achieve the vision to reach professionalism of athletes in Bahrain, espcially in cycling, noting that the inauguration of the academy will achieve many goals. He said that the team will compete in many events, adding that the ultimate goal is to have professional Bahraini cyclists participating in various international championships. HH Shaikh Nasser expressed optimism that the academy will boost cyclism in Bahrain, especially with the presence of outstanding cyclists who have attained landmark achievements, which, he said, will help Bahraini cyclists to gain experience and become professionals. The inauguration ceremony was held at Ritz-Carlton Hotel, in the presence of the President of the Bahrain Cycling Association, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa. HH Shaikh Khalid expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser for his constant support for the youth and sports sectors, noting that the inauguration of the team is part of the Bahrain Cycling Association’s keenness to achieve HH Shaikh Nasser’s enlightened vision to boost sports in Bahrain and support Bahraini athletes to become professionals. He indicated that HH Shaikh Nasser’s constant follow-up has encouraged Bahraini cyclists to develop themeselves in order to be qualified to enter the Bahrain McLaren team of professionals. He said that the team comprises 13 cyclists, including seven Bahrainis who succeeded to join the team thanks to their training. Bahraini cyclists expressed thanks and appreciation to HH Shaikh Nasser for his keenness to provide opportunities for ambitious Bahraini youth to become professionals. HM the King’s Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sport, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has announced the allocation of BD 1 million for national clubs. HH Shaikh Nasser’s initiative is in recognition of the clubs’ role in the honourable sports achievements attained during 2019. In a statement marking the occasion, HH Shaikh Nasser stressed that the national clubs are the basis of the youth and sports movement in the kingdom, and the first and essential incubator of players and talented athletes, noting that they have clear hallmarks in the landmark achievements of the national teams. HH Shaikh Nasser affirmed that the Bahraini sport is on the right track, and that many achievements will be attained thanks to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s keen interest in the youth and sports sector. HH Shaikh Nasser pointed out that he had already given directives to the Youth and Sports Affairs Minister, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al-Moayyad, to take the necessary administrative procedures to distribute the BD 1 million to the national clubs to ensure that the sums are credited to their bank accounts as soon as possible. This will enable them to put forward their 2020 strategy, and continue their efforts to prepare distinguished athletes, which will ensure that the kingdom’s sports achievements will continue, he said. HH Shaikh Nasser asserted that the amount of BD 1 million will be granted according to the clubs’ achievements at the national and external levels, adding that a part of the amount will be devoted to developing the administrative and technical work at the clubs, which will ensure the development of various aspects of their work. HH Shaikh Nasser expressed hope that the amount of BD 1 million will contribute to supporting national clubs, and stimulate them to continue undertaking their role in preparing talented athletes and honouring the kingdom at various sports gatherings, in line with the vision of the 2020 in which Bahrain is looking forward to optimising its achievements at all levels. more
The first part of pending dues will be paid to a batch of 417 players as well as administrative and technical employees. The move was endorsed during a meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS), chaired by Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, National Security Advisor, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Major General HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. The session announced that the legal situation of the second batch will also be studied. The meeting was attended by SCYS First Deputy Chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee President HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, SCYS Second Deputy Chairman Shaikh Isa bin Rashid Al-Khalifa, SCYS Coordination, Implementation and Follow-up Committee chairman HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al-Khalifa and other officials. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa gave directives to study the establishment of a company called “Al-Furjan Stadiums” to run the playgrounds which will constructed in villages and neighbourhoods (Furjan), in cooperation with the private sector. He gave directives to locate the sites quickly, incorporate the Usufruct rights and focus on using cutting edge technologies to run the stadiums once constructed. HM the King’s Personal Representative for Charity Work and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, has announced plans to set up a special fund to support youth and sports activities. The fund, to be established in cooperation between the private and public sectors, aims to enhance investments in the youth sectors, given the importance of youth and highlighting the kingdom’s achievements. HH Shaikh Nasser stressed that the support fund should provide all kinds of services to the youth community, based on clear future plans devised by the investors, adding that Bahrain is among the first countries to stretch the youth age to 35, in line with the vision of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on the need to pave the way for Bahraini youth to succeed. This came as HH Shaikh Nasser received here today the sponsors of HM the King’s Football Cup, the Nasser bin Hamad Premier League 2018-2019 and the Nasser 11 and Nasser 12 Games, in the presence of ministers and officials from the public and private sectors. HH Shaikh Nasser conveyed greetings from HM King Hamad to the sponsors and their representatives, noting that cooperation between the public and the private sectors has contributed to developing Bahraini football. He also highlighted the Bahraini football’s strides attained thanks to the partnership between the two sectors. The International World Endurance Championship for Junior and Young Riders will kick-start tomorrow – Wednesday, in Pisa, Italy. Five riders from the Royal Endurance Team will be at the starting line, along the UAE competitors, holders of the previous championship, in addition to one rider from Oman, two from Saudi Arabia. He paid tribute to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa, hailing royal support to sportsmen to shine in international events and honour the Kingdom of Bahrain in all arenas. He commended the achievements of the Royal Endurance Team in past participations, stressing their readiness to shine and attain a better performance to reflect the progress of the endurance sport in Bahrain. He stress the importance of the International World Endurance Championship for Junior and Young Riders, which represents an opportunity for Bahraini participants to gain experience. He hailed the outstanding organization of the International World Endurance Championship for Junior and Young Riders, expecting competition between the participating teams.
