His Highness also praised the support of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in empowering Bahraini youth.
This came during His Highness’s patronage of the closing ceremony of the fifth edition of the national project “Lamea”, in the presence of His Highness Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, Vice President of the Supreme Council for Environment, Deputy Chairman of the Rashid Equestrian and Horse Racing Club High Committee, and Member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, Ayman bin Tawfiq Al Moayyed, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports; Rawan bint Najeeb Tawfiqi, Minister for Youth Affairs; representatives of supporting organisations; and a select group of young people from the “Lamea” programme.
His Highness praised the high level demonstrated by the participants, commending their ability to navigate intricate stages and specific challenges designed to test intellect before skill, and commitment before performance, affirming that their achievements reflect a commendable model of Bahraini youth capable of competing and making an impact.
His Highness noted that the programme serves as a school of life that redefines the strength of Bahrain’s youth, and a model for preparing a generation capable of critical thinking, decision-making and taking responsibility, within the framework of effective strategic partnerships that promote collective national action and achieve a sustainable impact.
The ceremony began with a speech by Shaikha Dhuwa bint Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Chairwoman of Lamea Association, in which she affirmed that since its launch in 2021, “Lamea” has evolved from an idea into an integrated system for leadership development, noting the rapid growth in the number of applicants, and the expansion of local and international partnerships, which strengthens the programme’s regional and global standing.
In a speech by the participants, Abdulrahman Duaij said that the “Lamea” experience was not limited to skills development, but constituted a genuine shift in mindset, contributing to the development of a mindset capable of facing challenges with confidence and competence.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa honoured the strategic partners, Bapco Energies and Kuwait Finance House, alongside the knowledge partner, the Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance.
The graduates of the fifth cohort were also honoured, along with the winners, Taqi Abdulla from Bapco Energies and Ahmed Mubarak from the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, after they successfully completed a series of specific challenges.
The national ‘Lamea’ project is an advanced model for developing young leaders. It is not limited to the transfer of knowledge, but focuses on character building, testing readiness, and enhancing decision-making ability in real-world environments, based on the clear philosophy that true leaders are not made in classrooms, but in real-life situations.
The fifth edition of “Lamea” saw exceptional demand, with over 1,000 applicants, and an acceptance rate of just under 2%, reflecting the high level of competition.
