Nasser bin Hamad: Full support to be provided to the families of those deceased and affected by the Bapco Refinery incidentالترجمة
His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Humanitarian Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Bapco Energies, expressed his deep regret regarding the incident that occurred on the morning of Friday, 2 May 2025, in one of the units at the Bapco Refinery, which resulted in the death of two employees and the injury of another employee who is currently receiving treatment in the intensive care unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex.
His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa extended his condolences to the families of employee Mohamed Mahmood Shahabi (Bahraini) and employee Dejan Kuka (Serbian), who passed away as a result of the incident.
His Highness reaffirmed Bapco Energies' commitment to providing full support to the families of the deceased and those affected by this incident. He praised the cooperation of the Ministry of Interior through the prompt response from the ministry's response teams, the General Directorate of Civil Defence, and the emergency teams at Bapco Refinery, as well as their swift handling of the situation in accordance with established protocols, and the implementation of all necessary precautionary measures to the highest international standards for accident prevention and the safety of all.
His Highness noted that the safety of employees is a top priority, and that Bapco Energies constantly works with all its subsidiaries to diligently enhance safety standards across all facilities. He emphasised that this stage requires the cooperation of all and participation to support efforts aimed at improving the work environment and ensuring everyone's safety.
