His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa signs security memorandum of understanding with Cypriot National Security Councilالترجمة
His Highness Lieutenant General Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, National Security Advisor, Royal Guard Commander and Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of security between the General Secretariat of the Supreme Defence Council of the Kingdom of Bahrain and the National Security Council of Cyprus, within the framework of the 21st Regional Security Summit ‘Manama Dialogue 2025’.
At the signing of the MoU, the Cypriot side was represented by Tassos Tsezonis, National Security Advisor and Director of the Intelligence Service of Cyprus, in the presence of Shaikh Khalid bin Ali Al Khalifa, Deputy National Security Advisor, Deputy Secretary General of the Supreme Defence Council, and Shaikh Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Strategic Security Bureau.
On the occasion, His Highness affirmed that the signing of the MoU is part of Bahrain's vision to expand its international partnerships in the field of security, noting that the MoU is a strategic step that enhances security cooperation with Cyprus, contributes to the development of security networks, and supports joint preparations to face regional and global challenges, thereby serving the security and stability of the two countries and the region.
His Highness added that the strong relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus have witnessed continuous growth in various fields, and this partnership reflects mutual trust and a keenness to develop effective cooperation in light of global changes, foremost among which are security and economic aspects.
The memorandum includes cooperation in the exchange of security information and expertise, training and continuous coordination between the two sides, and supports the two countries' efforts to consolidate regional and international security and stability, in addition to holding bilateral meetings and addressing future common security challenges in a manner that enhances the efficiency of security work and upgrades the strategic structures in both countries.
His Highness and Tsezonis discussed a number of topics of mutual interest and reviewed the existing cooperation between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Cyprus.
