HH Shaikh Nasser patronises orphans' artistic event
Under the patronage of HM the King’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, and Board of Trustees Chairman of the Royal Charity Organisation (RCO), HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, RCO is organising the “Funoon” (Arts) event at the Seef Mall in Manama, including an art expo and a number of activities for all family members.
The event includes an art exhibition featuring talented orphans’ drawings, the outcome of a year-long training programme aimed at developing their artistic skills, as well as a collection of paintings donated by a number of Bahraini artists. The proceeds of the event will be allocated to orphans' education projects. The event also features daily drawing sessions by artists to educate the participants about drawing techniques, in addition to other activities such as drawing on glass, walls, balloons, pottery and clothes, as well as in the dark. RCO-affiliate orphans also share their drawings with Seef Mall visitors to showcase their talent and creativity. Among the surprises of the first day was a drawing by 16-year-old Ahmed Rahmah which was appreciated by HH Shaikh Nasser, who gave directive to honour him. RCO Secretary-General, Dr. Mustafa Al-Sayed extended sincere thanks to HH Shaikh Nasser for his interest in RCO’s charity work, noting that the event aims to showcase RCO affiliates’ talents, and increase RCO’s resources. He expressed appreciation to all the participants, artists who donated their drawings and the Seef Mall management. Dr. Al-Sayed also expressed deepest thanks to the Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery, for being the first to buy drawings for more than BD 10,000. He also lauded the efforts of RCO’s Resources Development Director, Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa for his efforts to organise the event. The event will continue at Seef Mall until January 20, and will be open to the public from 10 am to 10 pm.
