HH Shaikh Nasser honours injured Saudi volunteer

HH Sh. Nasser Bin Hamad Al Khalifa

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, gifted a brand new car to the Saudi volunteer who got involved in a car crash during the IRONMAN 70.3 Middle East Championship Bahrain, in which His Highness Shaikh Nasser has achieved first place at military and amateur level.

His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa announced at the end of the closing ceremony of the championship that he presented the car as a special gift to the Saudi volunteer Saud Tawfiq Al Dhahiri, in compensation for his lost car. Al Dhahiri had a traffic accident when he was helping one of the contestants. The participant was suffering from a minor injury and withdrew from the race. During Al Dhahiri's help, a car was coming from behind and crashed his vehicle, causing injuries to Al Dhahiri, which required him also to be transferred to the hospital. As a result, His Highness Shaikh Nasser presented a special gift to the volunteer in the form of a brand new car. On the occasion, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa stressed that the Saudi volunteer had shown the finest examples of dedication. "Despite the obstacles he faced while performing his duties, Al Dhaheri was keen to help the contestant to continue the race in the best possible way," His Highness Shaikh Nasser said. "Am very keen to provide full support to the Saudi volunteer. This gift is a token of appreciation for his efforts in the Championship to compensate him for the loss of his car, especially as he was working in his own vehicle in the tournament," His Highness added. Al Dhahiri expressed his deep thanks and appreciation to His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for this gesture, which he described as "humanitarian", pointing out that this initiative is not strange to His Highness, who is keen to provide full support to young people. Al Dhahiri, who studies at the University of Bahrain, confirmed that he had forgotten the incident while he was looking at the participants. "When I got involved in the accident, my eyes were on the contestant. I was overwhelmed when I saw him unhurt, despite the pain I was suffering," he said.
